BodyWork

All these styles can be mixed together for one session. They can be chosen by themselves or mixed in a fusion of bodywork.

Deep Tissue Thai

Deep Tissue Thai Massage is a unique style mixing Western and Eastern Deep Tissue techniques with Traditional Thai Medical Massage. Basically, while the muscles are being stretched, it is massaged at the same time, isolating the fibers, and reducing the pain of stretching enabling the client to become more flexible.

Deep Tissue Thai

Many stretches done during the session are impossible to do on your own. You are pushed to the level that you want and are comfortable with. IF you CHOOSE to, you can be really challenged to new levels and greatly increase your range of motion and flexibility. It is ideal for the injured, athletes, martial artists, bodybuilders, yogis or for anyone who would like to a have an increased flexibility. Even for the extremely, flexible, one can benefit from these stretches, and be even more flexible.

Although there are many different styles mixing Thai Yoga Stretches and Deep Tissue, this type is called the Ko technique, which is unique to Bliss. It is derived from various styles mixing the East and West and is influenced by Yoga and Martial Arts. The healing effects last longer.

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

Ashiatsu     Founded by Ruthie Hardee, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy (AOBT) is called "the Deepest Most Luxurious Massage in the World." Ashiatsu, "ashi" means feet, and "astu" means pressure and is a Western adaptation of Asian barefoot massage. Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is done on a table, with oil or massage cream with a set of customized wooden bars in the ceiling for balance and control. With soft, clean, bare feet Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a deep Swedish effleurage massage

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is ideal for large clients who prefer a deeper massage, who have an indicated condition (see below), or who simply enjoy new and different styles of massage. Most people think that only large clients who like Deep Tissue can benefit from Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, but it does wonders for both genders, and many women can also enjoy the long flowing deep strokes.

Ashiatsu     Many clients prefer the sensation of the feet opposed to the sensation of the hands. The Hands and Fingers have a concentrated pressure that could at times be uncomfortable. The pressure of the feet is stonger, and less painful in a more spread out, even way so that the client is able to take more pressure comfortably . In Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, "Gravitational force is combined with centrifugal and centripetal movements to bring about a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body"

"AOBT is indicated for the following conditions:

chronic low back pain
sciatica (not the acute stages)
tight or painful hamstrings
tight or painful calves
chronic upper back pain and fibrosis
Tight IT band

It is contraindicated for the following:

pregnant or trying to get pregnant
acute back pain
breast implants within 9 months
Lasik surgery within 72 hours
varicose veins
osteoporosis
heart conditions
varying stages of lupus
cancer.”

Face and Scalp Massage

Pressure points and strokes are mixed with stretches in the neck and head. Trigger points are used in the entire head area including ears.

Reflexology

A wonderful treatment for the feet and hands which points reflect from the whole body. In Asia, Reflexology is used to heal the entire body and chronic issues. You can have a whole session of Reflexology or combine it into a session. Important things to be aware of before a session are:
  • * Avoid use for one hour after meals.
  • * Within 30 minutes after massage, you should drink at least 500 cc (cubic centimeters) of warm water; in cases of kidney or heart disease, you should drink no more than 150 cc of water.
  • * Do not apply heavy pressure to bones.
  • * In case of serious heart conditions, diabetes, or kidney problems, use at any time should be restricted to under 10 minutes.
  • * In case of epilepsy, heart conditions, or high blood pressure, a physician should be consulted.
  • * If after a massage for a period of time, do not feel alarmed if an ailment seems to worsen or the mouth feels dry. This is normal, especially in the case of inflammation or rheumatism and will pass shortly. It is common to get sick after a session from the release of toxins.

Hot Stones

Hot Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. Basalt stones are volcanically formed and retain heat, providing a relaxing yet effective treatment. The direct heat melts the muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.

Reiki

Reiki is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an universal "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Although Reiki is ancient, it was rediscovered by the Tibetan Monk Dr. Mikao Usui through a 21 day fast on top of Mt. Kurama. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki is great for stress, emotional issues, injuries, and health problems. It is used world wide in hospitals for AIDS and Cancer patients. It is great and extremely effective when combined with bodywork, and speeds and seals the healing process.

When you receive Reiki, it could be very subtle: you can feel nothing, see colors, feel tingling, warmth, or varying sensations. No reaction is right or wrong, it just depends upon the individual.
